18.52 The subprogramme is under the responsibility of the Transport and Tourism Division.

Furthermore, the OAU has taken the initiative to elaborate a special protocol relating to transport, communications and tourism.

20. In 1992 1993, ECE carried out technical cooperation activities in the areas of transport, communications and tourism.

It can remain engaged on cooperation agreements affecting aviation, trade, academic exchanges, transport, infrastructure, tourism, and agriculture and rural development.

Tourism is a service industry composed of tangible elements, namely tourism products and services such as hotels, leisure enterprises and transport, and intangible elements such as rest, relaxation, culture, adventure and authentic experiences.

Greenhouse gas emissions from tourism originate from transport, energy and building sectors (as well as contributions from food and land use change).

We also presented an estimate of direct and indirect damages in the fields of industry, transport and communications, civil engineering, trade and tourism.

Eco tourism, cultural and natural heritage tourism, health and medical tourism and adventure tourism are some of the tourism niches that are increasingly marketed by destinations and tourism enterprises in developing countries.

However, websites run by direct tourism providers such as hotels and transport companies are attracting travellers seeking better prices by avoiding third party distributors.

They disguise themselves as legal and illegal commercial enterprises that operate in various areas, such as tourism, entertainment, transport, fashion, culture, pornography industries and service agencies.

Eritrea's economy also evolved into a service dominated economy, with tourism and transport services alone now accounting for nearly 40 of total foreign exchange earnings.

169. Under the second United Nations Transport and Communications Decade for Africa, ECA is assisting the developing island States to improve their transport and communication systems and to physically link them with the other African countries. V. Sustainable tourism development

The industries where OFDI by developing country firms is most prominent include electrical, electronics and information technology, food and beverages, petroleum, telecommunications, transport, utilities, and tourism and hotels.

Equally notable is the structural progress shown by the Lao People's Democratic Republic, where tourism is now the first source (22 ) of export receipts, while the tourism, electricity and transport sectors together account for nearly half of overall exports (47.4 ).

3. Trade and tourism

Business models should provide technological, financial and marketing solutions for the providers and users of the DMS, namely tourism providers (accommodation, transport and leisure companies), travel agents, tour operators, and consumers.
