Not only must schools be established and appropriately equipped, but instructors must be provided and curricula and syllabuses must ensure that proper operational and safety skills are taught.

In particular, the activities related to the operational safety of nuclear power plants will continue to be followed with interest by national administrations and to enjoy their support.

Since 1 January 2004, the Maritime Safety Division of the IMO Secretariat has been re organized and re structured in a manner which has led to the establishment of a dedicated Maritime Security Section under the Sub Division for Operational Safety, Security and Human Element.
