There was no organization more appropriate than the United Nations and the Transnational Corporations and Management Division to analyse the possibilities of harmonizing the insurance industry world wide.

In introducing the item, the Chief of the Legal, Environment and Transitional Economies Branch of the Transnational Corporations and Management Division outlined the main themes contained in the report.

25. In responding to questions, the Director noted that the Division had in previous years prepared reports on the social impact of transnational corporations in South Africa, including training.
