UNDP aims to further improve its capacity, efficiency and accountability by benchmarking itself with international standards towards a more networked and knowledge driven organization.

Improvements to national vehicle efficiency standards and investments in alternative fuels and vehicles help local governments to reduce greenhouse gas and local air pollutants.

25. An important element of the regulatory framework needed to promote energy efficiency is minimum standards for appliances and vehicles and appropriate building codes.

The Obama administration is now working to initiate a sensible long term approach to energy, with new fuel efficiency standards for motor vehicles, investments in technology, energy efficiency programs for dwellings, and environmentally sound exploration for additional resources.

The Charter of the United Nations, in Article 101, paragraph 3, provides that all staff members are required to meet the highest standards of efficiency, competence and integrity.
