In this connection, the Advisory Committee points out that unless the Assembly decides otherwise the effective date for extrabudgetary funding will be the date on which the Assembly adopts the draft resolution.

The Assembly will therefore take up sub item (g) of agenda item 56 at a later date.

As at the date of the current financial statement, the General Assembly has not invoked this provision.

At its fifty seventh session, the General Assembly amended rule 1 of the rules of procedure of the Assembly concerning the opening date of its regular session and also decided on the opening date and duration of the general debate (see items 1 and 8) (resolution 57 301).

Under its provisions (S73 (1)), the Constitutional Assembly is enjoined to adopt amendments, if any, within two years from the date of the first sitting of the National Assembly.

I should like to remind members that, while the Assembly fixed Monday, 19 September 1994, as the date for closure of the forty eighth session, it also fixed Tuesday, 21 December 1993, as the date on which the Assembly will recess until next year.

End date is before start date! Please make sure that end date comes after start date.

Since that date, the Assembly has annually adopted a resolution, by consensus since 1980, on this matter.

Bearing in mind that this date overlaps with the forty eighth session of the Assembly, may I take it that the General Assembly adopts the recommendation of the Committee on Conferences?

The General Assembly also decided to postpone the date of recess from Tuesday, 13 December 2005, to Thursday, 22 December 2005.

7 The Convention provides in art. 308 (3) that the Assembly shall meet on the date of its entry into force.

I should like, therefore, to propose to the Assembly that it postpone its date of recess until Friday, 23 December 1994.
