The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is an agency of the European Union (EU) with regulatory and executive tasks in the field of civilian aviation safety.

WFP's independent Aviation Safety Unit was formally initiated in January 2004.

II. Means of combating unlawful acts against the safety of civil aviation

(a) The Air Safety Unit, which is responsible for ensuring that aviation safety measures are implemented in the field missions

The incumbent manages the UNLB aviation safety training programme, the fuel contract, and the maintenance and operation of UNLB ground support and aviation cargo handling equipment.

The draft Baghdad Declaration on the combating of unlawful acts against the safety of civil aviation,

Most countries do not permit aviation cabotage, for reasons of economic protectionism, national security or public safety.

One additional Aviation Safety Officer (P 3) is requested in the Aviation Safety Unit of the Operational Support Service in the Logistics Support Division to increase the capacity of the Unit to provide oversight of a larger number of operators.

As a result, there is a need to conduct more safety assistance visits to missions in order to ensure compliance with the Department's aviation safety programme.

These are in addition to ongoing committees, such as those on aviation safety and response to mass casualties.
