There were two cases of falsification of medical insurance claims by staff members.

Moreover, universal medical insurance is emerging, and a comprehensive system for providing aid to students from poor families has been established.

The claims process for the Medical Insurance Plan, used by field offices, should be outsourced to ensure the confidentiality of participants.

This may be exploited by medical insurance companies or government welfare departments eager to limit or deny access to medical and social care.

(vii) The Medical Insurance Plan was established by the General Assembly at its forty first session in accordance with the United Nations staff regulation 6.2.

In paragraph 42, the Board reiterated its recommendation that UNICEF, in cooperation with the other United Nations organizations, advocate the expeditious review of the medical insurance plan.

Insuring Against Insurance

Between 1998 2002, there was a 7.5 increase in the rate of women receiving alimonies from the NII.

In 2004, the Medical Insurance Plan received total income of 3,754,260 from staff premiums and proportional contributions from UNHCR and 258,710 in interest earned.

(vii) The Medical Insurance Plan was established by the General Assembly at its 41st session in accordance with the United Nations staff regulation 6.2.
