Let's figure out what the rise and the run is.

Well, slope is just rise over run, right?

Every time we run 3, we rise 1.

If we run eight, we should rise seven.

That'd be the run, right, and this would be the rise.

If our run is positive, our rise here is negative.

When the run is three, the rise is negative four.

So, you rise 2 for every 3 that you run.

And that makes sense because if we run three, one, two, three, we rise negative one, we rise negative one.

So the equation for the slope m it's rise over run.

So this tells us that as we run 14, we rise 1.

So rise divided by run is equal to minus 2 over 3.

And I'm going to do another module on that slope is actually rise over run.

Or you could say for every two we run, we rise negative one.

Because let's say the rise in this situation is negative one, and the run is two.

So here rise over run is just one, and y intercept is where you intercept the y axis.

And it would have been the same thing if we calculated run here or if we calculated rise here.

Rise is the same thing as change over y, and run is the same thing as change over x.

And rise just means how much do you change in y, run means how much do you change in x.

So it's for every amount you rise, how much do you have to run to get that?

So, change in y over change in x, or rise over run, well, change in y would be this 5.

So how much do we have to rise and how much do we have to run to get to the second point, 2, 1?
