D. Concluding remarks 164. Although the Security Council established the Tribunal in May 1993, the task of setting up the Office of the Prosecutor only commenced following Mr. Blewitt apos s appointment as Acting Deputy Prosecutor in February 1994.

On 25 February 1994, the Acting Deputy Prosecutor and other staff members of the Tribunal met in The Hague with Mr. Bassiouni and other members of the Commission.

3. Contacts with non governmental organizations 162. The Acting Deputy Prosecutor has also met with representatives of NGOs that are eager to cooperate with and assist the Tribunal.
