The increased costs of maritime transportation because of the increased distance (dry cargo) and excess freight costs amount to US 3,980 million.

Provision is made for freight costs for the withdrawal of contingent owned equipment.

Provision is also made for freight costs for 12 mini buses transferred from UNTAC.

Miscellaneous services relate to freight and related costs, general insurance, bank charges, taxi fares and other sundry charges.

The costs anticipated under transport of contingent owned equipment were charged against commercial freight and cartage instead.

The decrease under general operating expenses is due, inter alia, to reduction under communications, maintenance of vehicles and freight and related costs.

The total cost of the acquisition of all vehicles and workshop equipment was 1,019,900, of which about 378,000 is freight costs.

The freight costs of tankers servicing Cuba have increased by between 15 and 30 per cent in comparison with normal prices.
