Just before the start of the NPT Conference, a high ranking United States official announced that Article VI of the NPT is just one sentence long .

I regard the fact that the forum is being held in this particular place as recognition of the important role of Kazakhstan in the non proliferation process and in the struggle for security and stable economic development.
