The resolution considerably departs from the scope of the previous resolutions as well as the reports of the Special Rapporteur for the situation of human rights in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, Mr. T. Mazowiecki, which pertains to the situation of human rights in the entire territory of the former Yugoslavia.

106. Previous reports have underscored the importance which the Human Rights Division attaches to an information and education campaign on human rights in order to achieve a genuinely democratic and developed State.

In October, UNMIL organized a four day workshop for legal aid providers to help build the capacity of private defence lawyers, which was aimed at reducing the number of pre trial detentions and violations of the rights of defendants.

4. Requests the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on the situation of human rights in the territory of the former Yugoslavia to take the Convention on the Rights of the Child into full consideration in the fulfilment of his mandate and in his future reports.

Pursuant to paragraph 33 of Commission on Human Rights resolution 1994 72, the Special Rapporteur has continued monitoring developments regarding the human rights situation in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The legal framework and enforcement structure related to human rights protection as mentioned in the previous Reports continued to be consolidated.

The previous Government, however, had not fulfilled its obligations to report under the various human rights treaties to which it was a party.

In August 1992, the United Nations Commission on Human Rights convened a special session, the first ever in its history, on the human rights situation in the former Yugoslavia.

Welcoming further the reports and recommendations of the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on the situation of human rights in the territories of the successor States of the former Yugoslavia, in particular the most recent report, A 49 641 S 1994 1252, annex.

Gouled's first wife, former First Lady Aicha Bogoreh, a proponent of women's rights and various charities, died in 2001.

He also had coordination meetings with the Centre for Human Rights, particularly the Special Procedures Section, and met with the Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, Mr. Tadeusz Mazowiecki.

13. At the previous session of the Commission on Human Rights, a specific investigation procedure had been established to examine the situation of human rights in Iraqi occupied Kuwait, including the problem of disappearances.
