We shall never have peace till we have a pure Aryan race.

Indeed, the Council owes many of its innovations, like Arria formula meetings, to past members.

A customary mechanism is, as we know, the Arria formula, which has already become a classic tool of the Security Council.

In this respect, we thank Denmark for having organized an Arria Formula meeting that helped to prepare this discussion.

The Arria formula meetings have been used more frequently in order to meet with civil society and non governmental organizations.

The lead female character, played by Fatemeh Motamed Aria, is a traditional woman who wears the chador, the full body cloak.

First, the Council has already begun to avail itself more frequently of civil society expertise and information through the Arria formula mechanism.

The Security Council will be able to make more and better informed decisions with input from civil society, as has been aptly demonstrated under the Arrias formula relationships.

For some years the Security Council has been carrying on a dialogue with groups representing civil society under the Arria formula, which is a welcome process whose potential should be further exploited.

On 8 July 1994, the Israeli army imposed a curfew on Hebron in order to search for the assailants responsible for the murders of Aryeh Frankenthal and Sarit Prigal.

In preparation for the open debate, the Council held an Arria Formula meeting on 16 February chaired by Jean Marc de La Sablière, the Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations.

The Arria formula meetings are particularly useful tools since they provide the Security Council with independent information concerning situations that could potentially destabilize a country.

To that end, the open debates on the Council's work for instance, on terrorism Council meetings with troop contributing countries and innovations such as Arria formula meetings are useful and welcome.

The Council will continue to engage with other Member States on issues such as conflict prevention and resolution, including through use of Arria style meetings, contacts during Council missions and other activities.

This included the development of a code of conduct that would restrict the use of the veto in the case of genocide and more frequent use of the Arria Formula to enhance civil society participation in conflict resolution and peacebuilding.

The Security Council underscored and will strengthen its relationship with civil society, including as appropriate, through, inter alia, the use of Arria formula' meetings and meetings with local civil society organizations during Security Council missions.

Following the meeting, Equality Now organized an Arria Formula meeting with members of the UN Security Council where Afghan women delegates pressed for full participation in the maintenance of peace as mandated by Security Council Resolution 1325.

The Council should involve non members more, for example, through informal, Arria style meetings, contacts with civil society, including during Council missions, and more dialogue with troop contributing countries.

The Security Council underscored and will strengthen its relationship with civil society, including as appropriate, through, inter alia, the use of Arria formula meetings and meetings with local civil society organizations during Security Council missions.

The heart rending accounts that the Council heard during the Arria formula meeting held on 25 October enabled its members to be convinced of the crucial role that women can and must play in conflict prevention and settlement, particularly in post conflict reconstruction and recovery.

Using the Arria formula, which has been referred to recently in this Hall, is only another way to hide or obscure the lack of transparency through a supposed consultation with representatives of civil society, where no one really knows who they are nor what interests they really represent.
