The programme envisages assistance for some 112,000 spontaneous returnees and 88,000 displaced persons, in the sectors of supplementary food, delivery of food and non food items, rehabilitation of roads, health and education facilities, and procurement of water equipment, medical supplies, shelter materials, seeds and tools.

As of mid 1994 general food distribution, supplementary feeding programmes and harvesting had contributed to an overall improvement in the nutritional status of the population.
