22. During his missions, the representative held extensive consultations with the resident United Nations agencies.

Mr. da Silva Angelo will also continue to serve as the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme and United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone.

86. The UNDP Resident Representative for the Eastern Caribbean continues to serve as Resident Coordinator of the operational activities of the United Nations system for the Territory.

Relief efforts in the Sudan. The Resident Representative continues to serve as Special Representative of the Secretary General for relief operations in Sudan.

The resident auditor will work closely with the Special Representative and keep him informed as required.

UNDP has invested and will continue to invest in the training of staff including that of the Resident Representative and the Deputy Resident Representative concerning UNDP privileges and obligations in their capacity as staff of the United Nations.

My Deputy Special Representative, who is also Humanitarian Coordinator, Resident Coordinator, Deputy Designated Official and UNDP Resident Representative, chairs regular meetings of the Humanitarian Action Group, which includes the United Nations country team, donors and non governmental organizations.

It is noted that there already exists an agreement in CEB that the functions of the resident coordinator be de linked from those of the UNDP resident representative.

While the Office of the Resident Representative Resident Coordinator was temporarily transferred from Kabul to Islamabad, it continues to administer programmes all over Afghanistan except for the capital.

79. Consultations are taking place both within JCGP and CCPOQ on widening the pool of candidates for resident representative resident coordinator and to make the selection process more transparent.

Some delegations also expressed concern over the relative seniority of these posts with respect to the Resident Coordinator and the Resident Representative in those countries for which the upgradings were proposed.

11. The HIV and Development National Professional Officers (NPOs) will report to the Resident Representative Resident Coordinator and will be given substantive and policy guidance by the HIV and Development Programme.

The authorized staffing profile consists of one international Professional (Resident Representative), two National Officers and five General Service staff.

As to the post of Deputy Resident Representative, he said he would pursue the matter with the departments concerned.

Created by the Security Council on 31 August 2005 (resolution 1620 (2005)), the United Nations Integrated Office in Sierra Leone will be headed by an executive representative of the Secretary General who will also serve as resident representative of UNDP and United Nations resident coordinator.

UNDP has been called upon to assume greater responsibilities in emergency and humanitarian activities because of its wide country presence and the established role of the resident representative resident coordinator in such activities.

The Deputy Special Representative for development and humanitarian affairs is also responsible for the functions of the Resident Humanitarian Coordinator.
