Remember, our juror came across one just last week.

Let us proceed with the selection of the final juror.

The judge was informed about the matter and proceeded to disqualify the juror.

Mr Drummond, is the defence ready for the selection of the next juror?

In particular, he claimed that one juror had openly stated, during a court recess, that individuals such as the author, who lived on taxpayers apos money, should be sent back to wherever they came from. That juror was subsequently challenged but not disqualified.

9.3 If members of a jury are suspected of displaying or voicing racial bias against the accused, it is incumbent upon the national judicial authorities to investigate the issue and to disqualify the juror if there is a suspicion that the juror might be biased.

I've never been a juror but I've been involved in a number of research projects with citizen panels randomly selected, and I've discovered one thing.

At the end of the trial, one juror allegedly told the author and his co defendants that most of the jurors had been intimidated by the mayor.

In the case in question, the views expressed by the jurors were of a general nature, and the court apos s decision not to disqualify the juror was unanimous.

In response to an individual communication which raised the question of possible bias on the part of a juror, the Committee adopted an opinion which is reproduced in annex IV.

In particular, it is not apparent that the judge, by disqualifying one juror after the first morning of the trial and then letting the trial proceed, violated his obligation of impartiality.

While the juror apos s remark may not in itself have amounted to a violation of the Convention, the fact that Ms. J. was not removed from the jury constituted a violation of article 5 (a).

Author apos s counsel only requested that one juror be disqualified for the rest of the jurors, it is submitted that the matter should have been raised in court, and domestic remedies cannot be deemed exhausted in their respect.

The author contends, however, that said juror had already influenced the remaining members of the jury, that, consequently, the jury was biased and that the judge should have dismissed the entire jury and ordered the empanelling of another jury.

As it was neither the Committee apos s function to interpret applicable Norwegian rules of criminal procedure nor to decide whether the juror had to be disqualified on that basis, the Committee was unable to conclude, on the basis of the information before it, that a breach of the Convention had occurred.

She did it so quickly that the poor little juror (it was Bill, the Lizard) could not make out at all what had become of it so, after hunting all about for it, he was obliged to write with one finger for the rest of the day and this was of very little use, as it left no mark on the slate.
