It's a double helix.

So this is a computer graphics representation of DNA, and I'm sure many of y'all have heard of the double helix.

Chromosome lengths were estimated by multiplying the number of base pairs by 0.34 nanometers, the distance between base pairs in the DNA double helix.

In DNA ligand binding studies, the ligand is usually any small molecule or ion, or even a protein that binds to the DNA double helix.

So the double helix just describes the structure, the shape that DNA takes, and it leads to all sorts of interesting repercussions in terms of how heredity takes place and how natural selection and variation might take place as well.
