Plan Colombia Cashing In on the Drug War Failure

For a whole year, I've been cashing an extra 20 a week.

First, the fact that leaving the company usually meant cashing in one s pension at a discount increased worker loyalty.

Many foreign companies, intent on cashing in, fuel the pathology of corrupt regimes by peddling in bribes and political protection.

And this is a legacy that was built for me, and it's a legacy that I've been cashing out on.

For example, regulatory standards could require equity based plans to preclude managers from cashing out awarded shares and options during a certain minimum period after vesting.

By contrast, prohibiting executives from cashing out shares and options until they leave the firm would provide executives who have accumulated shares and options with a large monetary value with counter productive incentives to depart.

In such a case, firms could still remain free to choose the number of shares and options awarded to any given manager, as well as to adjust somewhat the length of the post vesting period during which cashing out would be precluded.

But if the price of all housing goes up, the country as a whole is no better off after all, people have to live somewhere, so, other things being equal, cashing in on higher house prices would merely mean paying more for one s next home.
