Salamanca Declaration

Two Hurdanos are taking it to Salamanca.

Salamanca () is a city in northwestern Spain, the capital of the Province of Salamanca in the community of Castile and León.

It's milder here than in the neighbouring province of Salamanca.

That process will be formalized at the Salamanca Summit in October.

Next month, Spain will host the fifteenth Ibero American Summit in Salamanca.

Valsalabroso is a municipality located in the province of Salamanca, Castile and León, Spain.

Valverdón is a municipality located in the province of Salamanca, Castile and León, Spain.

Around this time the universities of Palencia (1212 1263) and Salamanca (1218 1254) were established.

I have the honour to transmit herewith the text of the Salamanca Declaration (see annex), together with an appendix and a number of special communiqués, adopted by the Heads of State and Government of the Ibero American community of nations at the Summit held in Salamanca, Spain, on 14 and 15 October 2005.

On 2 November, Mr. Sebastián Araniva Salamanca, member of the Alianza Republicana Nacionalista (ARENA) party and municipal councillor of the Municipality of Chinameca was assassinated.

In recognition of his work, he has received the title of doctor honoris causa from the University of Salamanca (2000), the University of Oviedo (2001) and Carlos III University (2002).

It is bordered on the south by the provinces of Toledo and Cáceres, on the west by Salamanca, on the north by Valladolid, and on the east by Segovia and Madrid.

He was tried in the District Court (Audiencia Provincial) of Salamanca on 7 June 1986, found guilty as charged and sentenced to four years, two months and one day of imprisonment.

He studied Spanish in Salamanca University (dating back to 1218, is the oldest and also one of the most prestigious universities in Spain), and a general studies semester in the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

The Ibero American Secretariat was set in motion at the Fifteenth Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Salamanca, Spain, in 2005, with the appointment of its first secretary general, Enrique V. Iglesias.

We, the Heads of State and Government of the Ibero American community of nations express our thanks to Spain, its Government, the city of Salamanca and its University for their warm welcome during this Fifteenth Summit.

The Heads of State and Government of the Ibero American countries hereby sign this Declaration, in two original versions in the Spanish and Portuguese languages, both texts being equally authentic, at Salamanca on 15 October 2005.

The Heads of State and Government of the countries members of the Ibero American Conference, at their Fifteenth Summit, held in Salamanca on 14 and 15 October 2005, expressed their appreciation and support for the peace efforts under way in Colombia.

We, the Heads of State and Government of the Ibero American community of nations, gathered for the Fifteenth Summit in Salamanca, Spain, on 14 and 15 October 2005, reaffirm the entire Ibero American heritage, which consists of the values, principles and agreements that we have adopted at previous Summits.

The killers of Francisco Ernesto Velis, Eleno Castro, Sebastián Araniva Salamanca and other national political figures must not and cannot go unpunished, without seriously damaging the legitimacy of democracy and the State apos s ability to fulfil its duty to provide safeguards and to ensure respect for the law.
