Over the course of two and a half months

And the title pretty much tells you what the course is about.

And it is these ideas that form the core of this course.

Welcome to the course Introduction to Databases.

This is going to be a great course. It's going to cover a lot of important practical issues, raise some fascinating theoretical questions.

The title of the course is, Think Again, How to Reason and Argue.

How are we going to study arguments? Well, in this course, we'll have four parts.

And we're going to try to take many approaches to our study of history during Crash Course.

This will be a preview of the sorts of topics that we'll be covering in this course.

In this course we'll learn a lot about how populations of people are connected by their genetic code.

But a I ot of this course is not going to just be about what happened, a lot of this course is going to be about why, why things happened the way they did.

I imagine many of you are already clear on your reasons for taking this course, but let me begin by justifying the course's existence and giving you several different motivations for learning about algorithms.

Because they do not know the conditions under which synthetic happiness grows.

Then, in part three, we'll look at a different kind of argument, inductive arguments.

Later in this course, we'll look in depth at what those patterns are, and how they form.

But David will teach this wonderful class, and I think we should just dive in.

My goal in this class is to give you an introduction to the analysis and design of efficient algorithms.

This course provides an introduction to modern macroeconomics for those beginning their study of economics.

Computational biology uses dynamic programming algorithms to measure similarity among genomes.

I'm going to assume for this class that you have a familiarity with programming in Python and that you're comfortable with mathematical notation about at the level of high school Algebra 2.

Every nation likes to sing its own song. It takes our fundamental values and a great deal of human wisdom to perform the role of a tuning fork in the global chorus of so many different voices.

The last half of this unit will focus on Netlogo, the simulation and programming platform that we'll be using to illustrate many of the ideas of complex systems in this course.

Well, we're not going to be needed a precise definition in this course, but essentially, an algorithm is a well defined set of rules, a recipe, in effect, for solving some kind of computational problem.

By the end of this course, you're going to know the basics of data analysis, uncertainty in measurement and how to design an experiment, and of course, some of the important concepts in physics for example, the conservation of energy.

Throughout the course, I will encourage you to think like an economist by providing examples from recent economic history that show how macroeconomics can aid in the understanding of important real world events.
