The evaluation function provides analytical, structured and impartial feedback of project programme performance for the purpose of increasing efficiency and effectiveness of UNIDO services, for accountability to management, donors and counterparts and for learning lessons in support to organizational knowledge building.

The impact of the training course on participants' professional capacity was derived mainly from the analysis presented in annex 4 of the six month evaluation questionnaires.

Evaluation

The evaluation of gender mainstreaming in UNDP was undertaken to identify gaps and further strengthen the UNDP approach to gender mainstreaming.

We therefore concur in the positive assessment that most nations have of the United Nations Register of Conventional Arms, an assessment reflected by the Secretary General in his annual report on the work of the Organization.

Compliance by country offices with nationally executed expenditure and the audit requirements of non governmental organizations has also been reflected in the annual performance evaluation of UNFPA representatives.

At the third annual conference of the Africa Evaluation Association (AfrEA), held in South Africa in December 2004, UNDP coordinated a panel on assessing national ownership.

UNCTAD's work should be supportive of development goals, taking into account commitments undertaken by member States.
